Welcome residents! We have created a special section for you so that you will have all the information you need about the upcoming changes. We know that construction and site work can be inconvenient, especially when it takes place right where you live. So we are making a commitment to you to be as respectful of your space and time as possible. We truly believe that the expansion we are building and the improvements we are making will only serve to make our community the best it can be. Please review the information below concerning the upcoming construction projects.
Safety Improvements
Changes to community access.
One of Greenbrier Ridge’s main focuses right now is making our community safer. A major way we are increasing the safety in our community is by changing the layout of our community’s entrances and exits. In conjunction with the City of Knoxville, we will be permanently moving the Lonas Drive entrance approximately 500 feet west of its current location. We will then be closing the Papermill Road entrance permanently.
Below are the reasons we believe these changes will increase the safety of our community:
- The new entrance location will join Lonas Drive where it is more level, allowing for better sight lines when entering and exiting traffic.
- Through traffic will be eliminated, decreasing the amount of cars that come in and out of our community that have no purpose being there.
- Having only one point of access to our community will allow us to start a “Neighborhood Watch” program because it will be more apparent if a person or car is on the property that shouldn’t be.
The moving of the Lonas Drive entrance is the first thing we will be doing once construction begins.
New Construction
We will be building two new buildings on the east side of our property (across from the K and A buildings) that will house 48 new apartments. Construction should begin in February. If you are interested in moving to one of these units contact the office for more information.
Site Improvements
A major improvement will be the installation of a central trash compactor for community wide use. We will be able to clean up our community by getting rid of the bulky dumpsters and consolidating them into one compactor located at a convenient pull in the new driveway. We are also taking out all the old mail boxes and putting in a new mail center. Not only will it look better, but because our new mail center will be better lit and in a more visible location, we believe it will be safer than our current mail area. Landscaping on the property will be getting a new look as well. We are really looking forward to seeing these changes take shape and hope that you are as well!
